Since our founding in the early 1900's, Lambda Chi Alpha has been dedicated to philanthropic and community service endeavors. This tradition continues today with chapters across the nation contributing to local charities, fundraising, and volunteering in many organizations. Our University of Akron chapter continues to live by a Lambda Chi Alpha open motto “Naught Without Labor" with our many philanthropic and community service accomplishments.
North American Food Drive
Fall Semester
The North American Food Drive is a National Lambda Chi philanthropy event. This event, which started in 1993, has become a tradition within Lambda Chi Alpha. Food is to be delivered on the first Saturday in November. Our Gamma-Alpha chapter has been recognized by the University and our Fraternity Headquarters for our efforts in raising over 140,000 pounds of food over the last 10 years.
Bathtub Pull
Spring Semester
Each year the brothers of Lambda Chi take a bathtub and haul it from Fir Hill down Market Street collecting donations from everyone stopped at intersections and passing by on the street. This 36 year tradition is one of the most recognizable philanthropy events put on by a University organization. All the proceeds from the Pull benefit the Blick Clinic which is a non- profit organization that supports individuals with developmental disabilities to increase their independence, restore previous function, and to generally improve the quality of their lives.
